Abstract

This article aims at exploring some methodological possibilities of approaching the phenomenon of the divine manifestation in the material world from the standpoint of a “semiotics of theophany”, exploring the polyhedric convergences between theology/religious studies, aesthetics, and semiotics in an immanent polytheistic religious context. To do so, we utilize the concept of “theophany”, present in the work of the German thinker, philologist, and scholar of religions Walter Friedrich Otto (1874-1958), and the ancient Hellenic spiritual and philosophical universe as a springboard for such reflection.
