Principle “Hope” and The Material Ethics of Life

In his work The Principle of Hope, Ernst Bloch does a deep reflection on a demand from the Utopist practice of those who struggle for
qualitative change in society, aiming what Dussel calls an Ethics of life, that is, a critical Ethics from the victims which create the new. In the Marxist perspective, developed by Bloch, Utopia stands out as a part historical structure of man – which implies that man is guided by a hopeful and militant optimism, to search for the Best and for the ways of constructing society. In this sense, Bloch’s philosophy is an ambitious project that does not restrains itself to the critique of bourgeois determinist ideology, but it renews Marxism by presenting an Utopist ontology of hope.
