This interview with Professor Etienne Higuet revisits his academic and intellectual journey, from his early education in Belgium to his decades-long career in Brazil, where he served at the Methodist University of São Paulo (UMESP). Higuet highlights the influence of Paul Tillich, Karl Rahner, Hans Küng, Paul Ricoeur, among others, reflecting on theology, philosophy, visual culture, and the study of religion. The dialogue addresses his role in the establishment of Religious Studies in Brazil, his main research axes—eschatology, political theology, mysticism, visual culture, and epistemology—and the contemporary challenges of the field. The interview offers a unique overview of the thought of one of the leading figures of the first generation of Religious Studies scholars in Brazil.
