Abstract

In Philosophy and the Mirror of Nature Richard Rorty proposes the abandonment of traditional philosophy, called by him confrontational, in favor of a philosophy that wouldn't confront an absolute subject and an absolute object. This article presents a sympathetic analysis of Rorty's criticism of this confrontacional philosophy but argues against the real possibility of carrying on such a conversational philosophy.
