Performance ín reading a diagnostic study on reading habits and comprehension among uníversity students

Abstract

This work has intended to carry out a characterization of the reading environment of university students and an evaluation of Cloze's technique effectiveness as a tool for diagnosis of comprehension in reading and for prognosis of academical performance of the subjects. The influence of school period (day-time or evening) has also been appraised. The data collected, via questionaries, have revealed that reading and study practices occur with less frequency than desirable, and that Cloze's tech[1]nique can be utilized as an effective instrument for reading evaluation and for prediction of academical performance.
