O PROCEDIMENTO DE DESENHOS - ESTÓRIAS EM PACIENTES ESQUIZOFRÊNICOS HOSPITALIZADOS: ESTUDO DE VALIDADE.

Abstract

The present investigation is a study of the simultaneous validity of the Drawing- Story Procedure (O-E) using psychiatric diagnosis as a criterion. The objective was to determine whether the D-E differentiates hospitalized schizophrenic subjects from "normal" subjects, and, if 50, to extend its to adults. Eighty adult male subjects of low socioeconomic and cultural leveI, all had scored 10 points or more in the Raven-Test were utilized. Forty of these were schizophrenic patients hospitalized for 3 months ore more in 2 hospitaIs (Group I), and the remaining forty subjects were elementary school students (Group /I). There evaluators, ali psycologists with professional experience, classified the 80 D-E protocols according to 5 alternatives: EI (schizophrenic, with litthi conviction), E (schizophrenic, with conviction), N1 (normal, with little conviction), N (normal, with' conviction, and NS (I don't know). For each evaluator the frequencies of the assignment of the D- E to the N and E categories were correlated to the frequencies of psichiatric diagnosis in the N and E categorias using contingenty coefficient (C). The alternative hypothesis that evaluation of the D-E is correlated to the psychiatric diagnosis at the 0,01 level of significance was accepted for the 3 evaluators. The 3 evalutors were able to discriminate between schizophrenic hospitalized patients and "normal" subjects.
