Abstract

The objective ofthis study is to investigate the oppinions ofpsychology students in te1ms ofwhat are considered to be the important characteristics of a good teacher. The subjects consisted of 79 third year psychology students, ofboth sexes, who were asked to cite three characteristics.The re­ sults indicate that the majority of thesubjects attribute greater value to the characteristicsof perso­ nality and the teacher-student relationship, than to actual professional characteristics such as, for example, the levei ofspecific and general knowledge. Toe most commonly cited characteristicssupport lhe imageofan interest teacher,concemedwith thestudent, likable,good natured, dynamicandflexible.
