Characteristics of the "good" teacher according to the perception of Psychology Students

The objective ofthis study is to investigate the oppinions ofpsychology students in te1ms ofwhat are considered to be the important characteristics of a good teacher. The subjects consisted of 79 third year psychology students, ofboth sexes, who were asked to cite three characteristics.The re sults indicate that the majority of thesubjects attribute greater value to the characteristicsof perso nality and the teacher-student relationship, than to actual professional characteristics such as, for example, the levei ofspecific and general knowledge. Toe most commonly cited characteristicssupport lhe imageofan interest teacher,concemedwith thestudent, likable,good natured, dynamicandflexible.
