The aim of this study was to validate the Schedule for Meaning in Life Evaluation for the Brazilian context. Participants were 423 Brazilian adults, aged 18 to 65. Instruments included the Meaning in Life Questionnaire, Snyder’s Dispositional Hope Scale, and the Inventory of Anxious Thoughts. Results showed that the target instrument has good internal consistency (0.879), and significant correlations with the other measures. A cluster analysis showed that the most cited areas were family and work, whereas the least cited were artistic interest and hedonism. We discuss possible uses of the instrument in educational, clinical and hospital settings.
