Abstract

The viability of eggs from africanized and italian queens, bred naturally in the Rio Claro region(SP), and the longevity ofworkers descendant from these queens, were analyzed comparatively. The results demonstrated that a difference exists between lhe percentage of survival of the africanized and italian broods for the egg, larva and pupa stages and for the total number of adults emerged in relation to the number of eggs. The longevity ofthe worker daughters of africanized queens live on average 20.96 days worker daughters of italian queens live 23.15 days
