Library catalog use: a historical view

The catalog introduction in the humanity history stamped the library not as a simpie book room. The catalog, then, showed and will show the instrument to localize an specific bibliographic item in the library, with the function of group informations to its users. The first catalog emerged with the first libraries, as simpie reports or inventories of the works existent in their collections. With the advance of the XX Century, the modem cataloging structure was shaped, that it is the major interest to the present time.
