Direito e gestão na construção da cidade democrática no Brasil

This article discusses the central role law has had in the process of urbanisation and sociospatial segregation, aiming to contribute towards the creation of transdisciplinary bridges that render possible the full understading of the existing problems affecting the construction of the democratic city. The article also explores the possibilites of overcoming such difficulties through renewed conditions of urban management, process in which the promotion of a wide, conceptual as well as institutional, law reform is of utmost importance.
