Abstract

Contemporary authors discussed in this paper have been supportive of the necessity to promote more effective engagement between architecture and reality in order to bring architecture closer to urban problems and to legitimize architecture as part of the cultural context of the metropolis in a more dynamic and inclusive way. The purpose of this article is to discuss different readings of reality and its relation to contemporary architecture - a key issue to understanding today’s design processes and an important tool for developing design methodologies able to restore the architect’s power to build the contemporary city.
