Abstract

The article if considers to tell part of the history of the Berliner architecture and urbanism under the optics of a pedestrian, whom it searchs to identify in the landscape of the city, elements that help it to read distinct periods of the urban thought. Based in two International Building Expositions, of 1950's the Interbau and 80's the IBA, the article searchs to raise to analyze typical elements of the architecture and urbanism gifts in these events and locks up its vision with the competition for the new Potsdamer Platz (90's), believing to delineate the context in which the architectures and urbanisms modern, aftermodern and contemporary in the city of Berlin had been developed. With proper characteristics, fruits of distinct historical moments, the three examples add themselves in the composition of the built Berliner's mosaic that, as a book, adds successive chapters to the measure that different periods provide varied readings of the same city.
