RECOVERY OF A DEGRADED AREA: AN ACT TO REQUALIFY THE RESIDENTIAL LOT

Abstract

The degradation of an area, regardless of the action pursued, is verified when the vegetation is removed and destroyed, consequently the fauna is expelled and the fertile layer of the soil is lost, removed or covered, affecting the flow and environmental quality of superficial and/or underground bodies of water. When this occurs, it is reflected by changes in physical, chemical and biological characteristics of the area, affecting its entire potential, be it economical,
social or environmental. The recovery is attained through the definition of a plan
that considers the environmental, social and aesthetical aspects, according to the destination proposed for the area, allowing a new environmental balance. The present article states the results of actions undertaken and in progress, as well as those to be followed in lands destined to condominium residences of private initiative, located in the Federal District, Brazil. It also has the purpose of comparing the found situation at the time of acquisition of the land and the situation past two years of work at the site. The need to undertake actions of recovery and rehabilitation of the area arose from the physical conditions found at the site, when bought by the actual proprietors, and the realization of an advanced erosive process in the area, as a result of cuts done at the site, that removed without technical control the superficial layers of the land and consequently its vegetation.
