ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING AS AUTONOMOUS ARTWORK

The peculiarities of architecture, which lie between art and technique, cause their existence to demand intermediate steps in anticipation of their spatial characteristics, brought into being by resources such as drawing. As the main communication tool between architects and their interlocutors, drawing would apparently exhaust its functions on conclusion of the construction or design process. However, some drawings eventually become independent works with the aura of works of art, irrespective of architecture itself. This article discusses the
characteristics of this type of drawing and the conditions of its existence.
