CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL ASSETS COMPRISING PARKS IN THE MIDDLE-SOROCABA TIETÊ RIVER BASIN: CITIES OF CABREÚVA, ITU, SALTO AND PORTO FELIZ, SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to characterize existing assets in the form of parks, as key components of the landscape in the Middle-Sorocaba Tietê River Basin, between the towns of Cabreúva, Itu, Salto and Porto Feliz, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. This will be presented as a single river reserve shown on a geographic map, in addition to making it evident by its mosaic composition on the banks of the river. This heritage has proved to be relevant in both the national and
international context, understood as something to be preserved for its intrinsic value and its cultural preservation policies. Its physical spaces are recognized as the history of the formation of the state of São Paulo. The river park to be presented is understood as a potential tool for use in planning and territorial organization of river basins, as it comprises several municipalities. In addition to the natural character of the parks that make up this scenario, their social and
cultural representations are also taken into account, because the process of their implementation includes the landscape and heritage. Thus, while promoting the development of the territory, one is able to explore its tourist and cultural activities.
