State-trait anxiety inventory: psychometric characteristics

The study Investigated the psychometric characteristics of the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). The 1008 subjects were of elementary school, high school, and collage. The analysis demonstrated: 1. the discriminative power of items (p = 0.001); 2. construct valldity, through factor anatysls; 3. the coeffticients of Internal consistency of the scales were 0.70 and 0.78 (Cronbachs's aIpha); 4. significant dlfferences between men and women, and subjects of high and low socioeconomlc status In state-tralt anxiety. The results indicate the validity and reliability of STAI.
