STRESS E SUAS IMPLICAÇÕES
Abstract
The present work analyzes a relatively new field of behavior therapy: the control of excessive stress. The stress response, in its multiple physical and emotional aspects, is described in terms of Cannon 's concept of preparation for "fight or flight" and in terms of Hans Selye 's general adilptation syndrom. Its 3 stages' alarm, resistence and exaustion, are analysed, together with their possible harmful effects. A treatment plan, used by the author, is presented. The plan's objective is to teach the client stress management, skills in a short period of time. The several phases of the treatment are described.
