CONSTRUÇÃO DE UM INSTRUMENTO BRASILEIRO PARA AVALIAR DEPRESSÃO
Abstract
The present study consists 01 two parts. The lirst part consists 01 the elaboration 01 an instrument to measure depression. A survey 01 the characteristics 01 depression was conducted with therapists, with information Irom clients'liles and Irom the literature. The information thus gathered was divided into clusters and next into the items 01 an instrumento The instrument constructed was submitted a statistical analysis. This yielded an instrument with 113 items. The items vary along the dimensions (scales) 01 Irequency or duration or intensity. Each 01 these dimensions (or scales) have 7 points. The second part 01 this study consists 01 two pilot studies; the lirst was conducted to see if the language used in the construction 01 the items was dear and the second, to test the aplicability and variability 01 the items. The lirst pilot test was conducted with an group 01 non-depres[1]síve subjects and led to the relormulation 01 a few items, including the reduction in the number 01 items Irom 113 to 108 items. The seconds pilot test consisted 01 utilizing the new instrument to test a group 01 depressive pacients. Results indicated that no lurther changes were needed at ali because the subjects understood ali items. Furthermore, the anwens given varied among the 7 points on the scale, indicating that the constructed instrument, in the lorm of a scale, is appropriate to meassure depression in Brazilian patients.
