EFEITOS DA PRIMEIRA IMPRESSÃO NO JULGAMENTO DE HABILIDADES EM MULHERES PROFISSIONAIS
Abstract
The present study investigated the influence that the civil status and the way of dressing have on the first impression created by professional women on those who judge their abilities on professional and nonprofessional areas. The subjects(80 women and 80 men between 20 and 40 years of age) were tested by means of photographs of 8 women dressed in a professional area feminine fashion, and described as married and single .Results indicated that the variables studied had no significant effect on the professinal areas investigated. However, a significant effect was found in the areas related to sex marriage and family where married women were judged in a more positive way across-cultural studies comparing the presente data with those from the American Society, are presently under way.
