Abstract

This study aims to analyse the view of regular school teachers on the learning process of deaf students. Seven teachers from Elementary School (First to Fourth grades) have been interviewed. All of them have deaf student attending class simultaneously at “CEPRE – UNICAMP”, an institution where special works are developed with handicapped people. The relationship between teacher and deaf students was observed in the classroom as well.
Using a qualitative approach, this study based its interpretation on the thematic and categorial analysis of content, emphasizing the learning category.  The evaluation of data showed that, although teachers have said the deaf student presents no problem with the learning process, it is possible to infer the teachers think that students present some limitations. There are low expectations related to the deaf students learning process.
