One hundred and twenty epileptic patients were intewkwed in order to study their situation at work. The average age of the patients was 31.5 years and the duration of the
disease varied from 7 months to 50 years (an average of 15.1 years). Sixty-one patients (50.8%, 46 men and 15 women) were employed. Eleven patients (9.1%), in
economically active age, were already retired from work by epilepsy. Housewives (n=22), unemployed (n=4), students (n= 5), retired by other causes (n=4) and people without occupation (n=13, mental deficiency in 11) completed the sample. Ten patients had seizures at work and accidents occurred in 3 cases. It is important to give attention to the occupationat situation of the epileptic
patients, who should be stimulated to work, avoiding functions of risk.
