SPINE EOSINOPHILIC GRANULOMA
DIFFICULTIES IN DIAGNOSIS

This case report intends to highlight the importance of the computed tomography scan to the diagnosis of eosinophilic ganuloma. A case of a 7-year-old boy Who presented a 4-month history of lumbar back pain, especially at night, only reliefed by the use ofc etoprofeno, is reported. Spine X-ray showed undefined L2 peduncle contours and diagnosis of postural pain. A bone radionuclide imaging showed an increased uptake of radioisotopes at L2 level. A computed tomography scan revealed a lithic lesion at L2 peduncle, suggesting a tumorous process. Local biopsy demonstrated the presence of eosinophilic (or Langerhan 's cells) granuloma. The case analysis reaffirms the importance of the clinical observation of pain aspects, as well as the value of computed tomography scans to the diagnosis of the disease.
