In post-menopausal women, the endometrium is a frequent site of hyperplasia and carcinomatosis transformations and, considering the progressive increase in women 's life expectancy, there was an increase in the incidence and prevalence of this cancer. In this review, the importance of the endometrial cancer, its clinical aspects, risk factors and the propaedeutic methods for early detection are discussed. The repercussion of decreasing mortality rates in women with endometrial cancer, when a screening program is applied to normal post-menopausal women, is evaluated. Finally, the endometrial evaluation in users of hormone replacement therapy is analyzed.
