Abstract

Introduction
The authors presented the results obtained in the treatment of 18 patients (28 feet), all female, with a mean age of 41 years (range 21 - 66 years), with mild and moderate hallux valgus treated using the osteotomy technique. Chevron, with a minimum follow-up period of two years.
Methods
Pre- and postoperative angular values are presented: metatarso-phalangeal angle of the hallux; intermetatarsal angle I - II; the deviation of the sesamoids. For clinical and functional aspects, the American Orthopedics Foot and Ankle Surgeons hallux valgus scale, the personal satisfaction scale and complications were used.

Results
There was personal satisfaction from 97% of patients. The score on the American Orthopedics Foot and Ank/e Surgeons scale was 86 points (range 75 - 95) and the average correction of the metatarso-phalangeal angles of the hallux was 12 degrees and the intermetatarsal angle I - II was five degrees. There was no change in the position of the sesamoids.
Conclusion
Chevron osteotomy has proven to be a simple and safe method for treating mild and moderate hallux valgus.
