Este escrito resume el libro “Compitiendo en Bravuras”, cuyo objetivo principal fue analizar la dinámica de las rivalidades y confrontaciones violentas entre grupos de estudiantes de diferentes centros educativos de educación media ubicados en el Área Metropolitana de San Salvador. La investigación se centró explícitamente en la formación de identidades individuales y sociales de los adolescentes que participan activamente en las rivalidades, con el propósito de entender la dinámica detrás de las manifestaciones de esta violencia. Brevemente, se describe las confrontaciones violentas entre estudiantes, el modelo teórico utilizado, los principales resultados del estudio y finalmente, algunas perspectivas diferentes para entender la temática.
